Tea 101

An Introduction to Tea.

All "Tea" Comes From One Plant.

While tea has several thousand varieties, most people don’t realize all teas come from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis, the tea plant. However, there are really just five basic tea types: White, Green, Oolong, Black and Pu’erh (pronounced poo-ERR).  To be considered a true tea, it HAS to come from the Camellia Sinensis plant. So, teas made from herbs (like chamomile), fruits (like apple), spices (like cinnamon), or botanicals (like jasmine) are not really tea, but rather are called tisanes (pronounced tuh-ZAN).
