Georgian Organic Tea Producers Association

The Georgian Organic Tea Producers Association (GOTPA) is a cooperative of family tea farmers from across the Republic of Georgia, who specialize in producing high quality, organic orthodox teas. Founded in 2011 by Shota Bitadze and few local tea farmers, their mission is to restore Georgian tea quality to its previous world-class standards. GOTPA is at the forefront of efforts to rehabilitate abandoned tea estates in Georgia into viable, organic operations by developing and introducing new teas and new tea technologies, then educating  their member farmers and assisting with implementation.  They are leading the revival of the Georgian tea industry, so Georgian tea may once again be competitive in the world tea market.

What GOTPA does:

  • Rehabilitate and create organic tea plantations in Georgia.
  • Establishes national tea technologies, enterprise regulations and tea standards.
  • Creates viable workplaces and monitors the working conditions.
  • Monitors production method and product quality.
  • Creates and imports new tea cultivars.
  • Shares information with member farmers, and the public.
  • Builds and fosters relationships within the world tea community.
  • Provides training and seminars at international tea conferences and events.
